Labour Day rally held

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) On the occasion of International Labour Day, an awareness walk was organized under the auspices of the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company.

The walk was led by Chief Executive Officer, Naeem Akhtar. A large number of company officials and sanitation workers participated in the event. The purpose of the walk was to acknowledge and encourage the services of the working class, especially the sanitation staff.

Addressing the participants, CEO Naeem Akhtar said that workers are the foundation of any civilized society, and national development depends on their tireless hard work and dedication.

He stated that ensuring the dignity, protection, and welfare of workers is a fundamental responsibility of the state.

He further said that under Punjab Chief Minister’s vision of the “Suthra Punjab Program,” there has been a significant improvement in the sanitation system, while new employment opportunities have also been created in South Punjab, providing a source of livelihood for unemployed individuals.

He added that due to the relentless efforts of sanitation workers, a clear improvement in cleanliness standards has been observed in both urban and rural areas.
