KU VC distributes second UKAHA installment of scholarship cheque to 10 KUBS Students

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) The Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi distributed scholarship cheques worth over Rs1.2 million among 10 students of the Karachi University business school here on Wednesday.

The University of Karachi Alumni Houston Association (UKAHA), Texas, USA, provided the funds for the merit-based scholarships. The cheque distribution ceremony was held at the VC Secretariat.

The representative of the UKAHA Texas Feroz Iqbal shared that with the collaboration of the KU Students Financial Aid Office, the association reaffirmed its commitment to promoting higher education in Pakistan by distributing the second installment of its scholarship support to 10 meritorious students of the KUBS.

He informed the audience that the President of UKAHA, Muhammad Azam Akhtar has pledged Rs10 million toward the tuition fees of 10 selected meritorious students to support them throughout six semesters of their BBA program.

The KU in-charge SFAO, Professor Dr Ziasma Haneef mentioned that as part of this initiative, scholarship cheques amounting to approximately Rs1.2 million, representing the second installment of the commitment, were distributed among the 10 students.

She added that UKAHA has firmly committed to providing semester-fee assistance to more than 50 students under its regular scholarship program in August.

Speaking on the occasion, the KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi said the KU appreciated the role of its alumni and expressed that their contribution towards the academics of students would bear fruitful results.

KUBS Students Advisor Dr Sohaib uz Zaman and others were also present during the cheque distribution ceremony.
