KU's Persian faculty meets Iranian CG to discuss academic cooperation

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th May, 2026) A delegation comprising prominent members of the Persian Language and Grammar Department of University of Karachi met Iranian Consul General Akbar Eissa Zadeh here at the Iranian Consulate and discussed the promotion of the Persian language and enhancement of academic ties between Pakistan and Iran.

During the meeting, participants highlighted the historical and cultural significance of the Persian language in the educational system of the subcontinent. Faculty members associated with the Department of Persian Language at Karachi University briefed the consul general on the department’s academic activities and presented various proposals, including the introduction of different courses aimed at promoting Persian language studies in educational institutions across Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Iranian Consul General Akbar Eissah Zadeh underscored the importance of Karachi University and described the Persian language as a vital medium for understanding the shared heritage of the two nations.

He assured full cooperation in addressing challenges and obstacles hindering the promotion of the Persian language.

He emphasized that Persian should not only be viewed as a language and grammar subject in Pakistan’s educational institutions, but also as a means of communication and mutual understanding that could help students contribute in economic and trade sectors between the two countries alongside academic activities.

Faculty members from the Persian Language Department noted that if students acquire professional-level proficiency in Persian and utilize their expertise in bilateral trade and economic fields, it could also become a sustainable source of income for them.
