KP Police, Pakistan Army’s 605 regional workshop sign agreement for APC upgradation

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jun, 2026) The Telecommunication Wing of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Pakistan Army’s 605 Regional Workshop EME, Nowshera, have signed an agreement for the repair, rehabilitation and upgradation of armoured personnel carriers (APCs) used by the police across the province.

According to a spokesperson for the Central Police Office Peshawar, the initiative aims to enhance the operational readiness and safety of police personnel deployed in sensitive and challenging areas.

Under the agreement, a total of 85 APCs will undergo repair and upgradation, including 50 vehicles requiring major overhaul and 35 undergoing partial restoration. The fleet includes various models such as Muhafiz, B7 V8, Protector, Hudson and Russian-origin APCs.

The restoration work will include engine overhauling, suspension and brake system repairs, air conditioning maintenance, electrical rewiring, replacement of tyres, installation and repair of bulletproof glass, and refurbishment of door locking systems.

As part of the modernization process, all vehicles will also be equipped with advanced flashlights and camera systems fitted with protective covers to improve surveillance capability, operational security and field visibility for deployed personnel.

Police authorities said protecting personnel and providing modern operational facilities remain among the top priorities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.

They added that maintaining fully operational armoured vehicles is essential in view of the province’s difficult terrain and evolving security requirements.

Officials termed the collaboration with the Pakistan Army’s technical workshop an important step towards strengthening police capacity, improving mobility and response capability, and enhancing overall operational performance during security operations in remote and sensitive areas.

Upon completion of the project, the upgraded vehicles are expected to improve personnel protection, boost force morale and further support ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the province.
