PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary education Arshad Ayub Khan on Wednesday directed the relevant authorities to formulate a comprehensive and effective strategy to eliminate cheating in examinations and ensure transparent conduct of exams across the province.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting in Peshawar regarding strategy-making for matriculation examinations.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Khalid, Special Secretary Muhammad Saleh Khan, while chairmen of examination boards participated online.
The meeting reviewed the performance of all boards in recent examinations and discussed measures to further improve transparency in upcoming Matric and higher secondary examinations.
It was decided to establish a coordination committee to devise a comprehensive strategy for future exams.
The committee will determine the roles and responsibilities of resident inspectors during examinations and take action against any examination staff found negligent or involved in malpractice, including those against whom complaints of cheating or irregularities are reported.
The meeting also decided that students will undergo mandatory checking before entering examination halls, while examination staff will be provided with necessary training to ensure strict monitoring.
The provincial minister said he had personally visited various matric examination centres and identified key issues, which have been brought to the notice of the authorities.
He remarked that cheating has unfortunately been normalized in society, with many considering it a right rather than a wrongdoing.
He stressed the need for firm and decisive measures to secure the future of students, adding that strict action would be ensured against those involved in cheating.
He said cases of Unfair Means (UFM) would be registered against violators, with a minimum penalty of three years’ disqualification from appearing in examinations.
