KP Law reforms committee reviews draft Drugs Bill 2026

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Law Reforms Committee on Thursday undertook a comprehensive review of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Drugs (Amendment) Bill, 2026, with a focus on enhancing the legal framework governing the pharmaceutical sector in the province.

The meeting was presided over by Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Aftab Alam.

Advisor to the Chief Minister on Health Mian Khaliq ur Rehman, the Secretary of Law, and other senior officials from the Health Department were also in attendance.

During the session, participants deliberated upon various clauses of the proposed amendment bill.

The discussion was centered on strengthening the existing provisions to improve the regulation of manufacturing, sale, and quality control of medicines across the province.

Addressing the participants, Minister Aftab Alam directed the authorities concerned to finalize the bill in accordance with all constitutional and legal requirements.

He instructed the relevant departments to incorporate their input and expedite the necessary steps for presenting the bill before the provincial cabinet and subsequently the provincial assembly.

The Minister reiterated that the protection of public health remains a top priority of the government.

He emphasized that a robust and effective legal framework is indispensable for ensuring transparency, curbing malpractices, and maintaining strict regulation in the pharmaceutical sector.
