PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed visited the Safe City Command and Control Headquarters in Peshawar to review Muharram-ul-Haram security arrangements.
During the visit, officials briefed the IGP on province-wide security measures, including surveillance systems, monitoring of sensitive gatherings and processions, and emergency response mechanisms.
The briefing stated that Peshawar city has been covered through modern surveillance systems, while advanced technology is being used for the identification and monitoring of wanted individuals. Nearly 80 police personnel have been equipped with body cameras, while live monitoring systems have been activated in more than 30 patrol vehicles.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>For Muharram security, 347 cameras and 167 surveillance cameras are monitoring processions and gatherings, while several districts are also being observed directly through the Safe City Headquarters.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Zulfiqar Hameed said that Safe City technology, drone surveillance, facial recognition systems, and thermal cameras are being utilized to ensure foolproof security during Muharram-ul-Haram.
He added that police and other law enforcement agencies remain on high alert and immediate action would be taken against any potential threat.
