PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) The Directorate General of Law & Human Rights, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with Shirkat Gah Women’s Resource Centre and UN Women, organized an awareness seminar in connection with International Women’s Day at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Peshawar.
The event was aimed to encourage young women and girls to pursue careers in the justice sector, particularly in the police, legal and judicial services and to highlight the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The seminar was attended by distinguished speakers and dignitaries including Saima Shareef, SHO of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, who shared her professional journey and experiences in policing, motivating students to confidently pursue careers in law enforcement.
Other speakers included Prof.
Dr. Safia Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar, Maqsood Ali, Director at the Directorate of Law & Human Rights KP, Fauzia Ali, Provincial Coordinator of Shirkat Gah, Dr. Zarmina Baloch, Director RCC SBBWU, Memona Arbab, Advocate of Peshawar High Court and Shagufta Gul from UN Women Sub-Office Peshawar.
Speakers emphasized the critical role of women in strengthening justice institutions, addressing gender-based violence and promoting equal opportunities in public service.
A large number of students and faculty members attended the seminar and actively engaged with the speakers.
The Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to promoting gender equality, empowering women and encouraging young women to join justice sector institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
