PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and UNICEF have agreed to enhance cooperation on climate adaptation, clean water supply and sanitation projects aimed at improving public health and strengthening community resilience across the province.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Fazal Shakoor Khan and a UNICEF delegation here on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on addressing the growing challenges posed by climate change and ensuring the provision of essential services to urban and rural populations.
Officials reviewed ongoing initiatives related to water supply, sanitation and drainage systems, with special emphasis on areas vulnerable to climate-related impacts.
The UNICEF delegation also shared details of its projects designed to help communities adapt to changing environmental conditions and improve access to basic facilities.

Both sides discussed a range of proposals to improve coordination and accelerate development projects that can help communities better withstand the effects of extreme weather and environmental pressures.
They also emphasized the importance of long-term planning and investment in resilient public infrastructure.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to deepen collaboration between UNICEF and the Public Health Engineering Department to support climate-resilient development and improve the quality of life for people across KP.
