PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Societies, Khurshid Khan Khattak Thursday said KP government will establish additional fish hatcheries and restore flood-affected fisheries infrastructure to strengthen the sector’s contribution to provincial revenue and create employment opportunities.
He expressed these views during a visit to the Fisheries Training Institute in Mathra Sherabad, where he was briefed on the performance of the Fisheries Department, ongoing development initiatives and future targets.
Director General Fisheries Zubair Ali Khan informed the meeting about the department’s hatcheries, revenue generation, issuance of licences, available resources, trout fish projects and the condition of hatcheries affected by floods.
Speaking on the occasion, Khurshid Khan Khattak said the present government was committed to public welfare and was taking practical steps to improve service delivery and strengthen economic sectors.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said the Fisheries Department had shown consistent growth in provincial revenue and further expansion of fish hatcheries during the current year would help increase income generation.
The Special Assistant directed officials to prioritise restoration of damaged hatcheries and resolve issues faced by the department to improve operational efficiency.
He also announced that funds would be proposed in the next fiscal year’s budget for establishing new fish hatcheries in merged districts to generate local employment opportunities and promote fisheries development.
DG Livestock Asal Khan, Additional Secretary Livestock Niaz Muhammad Khan, Director Southern Districts Muhammad Ilyas Khattak, Director Fisheries Merged Districts Amir Hamza, Director Headquarters Peshawar Fawad Ali Khalil and other officials were also present.
