PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has intensified its crackdown against substandard and unhygienic food across the province carrying out major operations in Peshawar, Swat and Kohat.
During the inspections, large quantities of unsafe food items were confiscated and destroyed while several businesses were fined and issued improvement notices.
According to spokesperson for Food Authority spokesperson, the teams conducted inspections in Tehsil Matta and Charbagh where unregistered ice cream was recovered and disposed of. Heavy fines were also imposed on vendors for violations of hygiene and food safety regulations.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The spokesperson further stated that inspections were carried out in schools, hospitals and bakery units in Tehsil Babuzai where the quality of food and water was examined. During the operation, 160 kilograms of substandard sweets were discarded and improvement notices were issued to several canteen owners for unsatisfactory food safety standards.
In another operation, the Kohat Food Safety team raided an ice cream factory and seized large quantities of substandard ice cream. Similarly, the Peshawar Food Safety team inspected fast food points and restaurants in Hayatabad imposing heavy fines on business owners for violation.
