KP CM condemns attack on polio teams in Bajaur, seeks report

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi on Monday strongly condemned the firing incident targeting anti-polio teams in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur, in which two police personnel deployed for security were martyred.

According to CM House, Afridi took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Inspector General of Police regarding the attacks on polio teams.

He termed the targeting of officials performing a national duty as a cowardly act, saying terrorists would never succeed in their nefarious designs.

He expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of security personnel assigned to protect polio workers and assured that the provincial government would extend all possible support to the bereaved families.

He also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and for patience and strength for their families.

Separately, Provincial Minister Shafi Jan also condemned the attack and paid tribute to the martyred police personnel.

He described the attack on anti-polio teams as a cowardly act and said the sacrifices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police would always be remembered.

The minister reiterated that terrorists would not succeed in their malicious objectives and said the provincial government stood with the families of the martyrs in this difficult time.
