KP Assembly welcomes Iran–US agreement, calls Pakistan’s diplomacy historic success

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) Members of both the government and opposition in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly here Friday welcomed the negotiations and successful agreement between Iran and United States, describing it as a diplomatic achievement for Pakistan and an important step toward peace in the region.

During the budget session, the parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), Sardar Shahjehan Yousaf, said that due to the leadership qualities and effective diplomacy of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan had played a positive and historic role on the global stage.

He stated that the reduction in tensions between Iran and United States and the success of the negotiation process were welcome developments not only for the region but for world peace as a whole, and that the entire nation deserved congratulations.

Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam also welcomed the Iran–US agreement, saying that Pakistan’s balanced and proactive diplomacy had helped prevent a potential war in the region. He said this was a major achievement for Pakistan and that all Pakistanis deserved congratulations for it.

Muzammil Aslam further said that war is never a sustainable solution to problems, whereas negotiations and diplomacy are the only effective means of resolving disputes and establishing peace.

He said that today it has once again been proven that dialogue and negotiations are the best way to resolve conflicts, a principle that has been supported in the past as well.

During the assembly session, members expressed hope that the progress in negotiations between Iran and United States would play an important role in promoting stability, economic cooperation, and peace in the region.
