KP assembly speaker expresses anguish over absence of senior officials

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2026) Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, here Sunday expressed strong displeasure over the absence of senior officials during the budget session.

The Speaker said that everyone wants a budget according to their preferences, but representatives from only six departments were present in the session, while the Chief Secretary and the Inspector General (IG) of Police were also absent.

Despite the absence of officials, complaints are made that insufficient funds have been allocated.

He questioned how the session could proceed effectively under such circumstances.

Babar Saleem Swati directed that a letter be sent to the Chief Secretary expressing dissatisfaction over the non-attendance of government officials.

The Speaker further remarked that if government departments themselves are not interested in attending the assembly proceedings, it would be difficult to make progress on important matters.
