KP Assembly raises questions of administrative officers' role in doctors recruitment process

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Jun, 2026) The members of Khyber Pakthunkhwa Assembly with Speaker Babar Salim Swati in chair here Sunday raised questions over the role of administrative officers in contract recruitment of doctors and dental surgeons.

Serious questions have begun to arise over the role of administrative officers in the contract recruitment process for doctors, dental surgeons, and nurses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while members of the ruling party have also raised objections to the recruitment procedure.

Ruling party member of the provincial assembly Ubaidur Rehman questioned the matter in the assembly, asking who had authorized the Deputy Commissioner to oversee the recruitment of doctors and nurses. He said that complaints of irregularities in the recruitment process had emerged and should be investigated.

Meanwhile, in Mansehra, it has been revealed that despite interviews being conducted at the divisional level for the recruitment of medical officers, dental surgeons, and nursing staff, candidates from other regions were selected for vacancies in Mansehra District.

It is alleged that contrary to the published advertisement and recruitment rules, combined candidates from different districts were called for interviews and a province-wide merit list was prepared and local candidates were overlooked.

The affected candidates have claimed the recruitment process to be in violation of the rules and have announced their intention to challenge it in court. They have also called upon the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, provincial ministers, and members of the assembly to take notice of the matter.

If the recruitment procedure does not comply with the relevant service rules or government policy, or if it deviates from the prescribed procedure, such appointments may be challenged in court.

Recruitment authority must be exercised in accordance with the applicable rules, government policy, and official notifications. If these rules have been violated at any stage, the matter is subject to judicial review.

In Abbottabad, interviews for the recruitment of doctors and nurses were conducted by a selection committee established under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, comprising officials from the district administration and the Health Department.
