PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) A session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was held on Wednesday at a local cricket stadium where questions related to public health engineering raised.
During the question hour, Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering, Fazal Shakoor Khan, responded to a query raised by Member of the Provincial Assembly Johar Muhammad regarding the Public Health Engineering Department.
The minister said that in Lakki Marwat district, there are a total of 585 water supply schemes under the department, of which 558 are functional while 27 are currently non-functional.
He added that 14 schemes have been approved under the CPEC program, while the solarization of six schemes under a UNICEF program is expected to be approved soon.
He further said that PC-I documents for the remaining non-functional schemes have already been submitted for approval.
Once approved in a timely manner, these schemes are expected to become operational before June 2026. He also noted that, on provincial directives, the Chief Minister has instructed the department to seek Non-ADP PC-I approvals to restore inactive schemes, which are likely to be approved soon.
However, on the consensus of assembly members, the matter was referred to the Standing Committee on Public Health Engineering for further review.
In response to another question by MPA Arif Ahmadzai, Minister for Irrigation Riaz Khan stated that within the jurisdiction of the Charsadda Irrigation Division, the left bank of the Kabul River falls, where several fish hotels had been established at Haji Zai. He said that many of these hotels have been removed, while further action is currently on hold due to a stay order issued by the High Court.
