PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in its budget for fiscal year 2026-27 has allocated Rs80 billion for the Management of Teaching Institutions (MTIs) in the fiscal year 2026–27, marking a significant increase from Rs65.7 billion in the previous fiscal year.

According to budget documents on Friday, the allocation has been raised by approximately 21.8 percent, reflecting the government's commitment to strengthening the province's tertiary healthcare system and improving hospital management standards.

The MTI initiative supports the autonomous administration of major public teaching hospitals across the province, enabling them to operate with greater institutional efficiency, enhanced medical expertise and improved clinical standards.

These institutions play a vital role in providing advanced healthcare services to hundreds of thousands of patients annually while also serving as key centers for medical education and specialist training.

The government stated that the increased funding recognizes the critical contribution of teaching institutions in delivering quality healthcare and promoting professional hospital management throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The MTI allocation is the largest single line item among the province’s ongoing flagship initiatives in the FY 2026–27 budget.
