KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) The seventh Muharram procession in Kohat was held peacefully on its designated routes under stringent security arrangements, with senior police officials conducting on-ground inspections to ensure the safety of mourners and maintain law and order.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Kohat Region Irfan Tariq and District Police Officer (DPO) Shahbaz Elahi visited procession routes and reviewed security measures in detail. During the inspection, DPO Shahbaz Elahi briefed the DIG on Muharram security preparations, including personnel deployment, monitoring of entry and exit points, route protection, and screening procedures. The officers also met procession organizers to discuss facilities provided to participants and assess the overall security framework.
The senior officers interacted with police personnel deployed along the routes, appreciating their professionalism and dedication while directing them to remain vigilant and disciplined throughout the observances.

Speaking on the occasion, DIG Irfan Tariq said ensuring peace and the safety of mourners during Muharram remains the police’s top priority. He commended Kohat Police for their effective arrangements and said all available resources were being utilized to prevent any untoward incident. DPO Shahbaz Elahi reaffirmed the force’s commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring the peaceful observance of Muharram across the district.
