Kohat police foil major arms smuggling attempt, recover large cache of weapons

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2026) Kohat Police, acting on intelligence-based information, foiled a major attempt to smuggle a large quantity of illegal weapons and arrested two suspects during a checkpoint operation, officials said on Saturday.

According to police, the operation was carried out under the directives of District Police Officer Shahbaz Elahi and led by DSP Headquarters Imaduddin along with SHO KDA Police Station Umar Khaliq. The suspects, identified as Ibrahim and Yousaf, residents of Sadda, were intercepted while allegedly transporting weapons from Darra Adam Khel to Sadda in Kurram district.

During the search, police recovered 18 MP-5 rifles and 90 pistols from their possession. Both suspects were taken into custody on the spot, and a case was registered at KDA Police Station.

Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway and more disclosures are expected. The district police reiterated their resolve to continue strict and indiscriminate action against criminal networks to maintain peace and security in the region.
