Kohat police arrest 79 suspects, seize large cache of arms and drugs in February crackdown

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) Kohat police achieved remarkable success during a comprehensive month-long crackdown against criminal elements and narcotics dealers in February 2026, arresting dozens of suspects and recovering a substantial quantity of arms, ammunition and drugs, officials said on Friday. The operations were conducted under the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Shehbaz Elahi, aimed at effectively strengthening law and order across the district.

According to police officials, the operations resulted in the arrest of 47 proclaimed offenders and 32 drug peddlers, thereby significantly improving public safety. Moreover, law enforcement teams actively conducted targeted raids and intelligence-based operations throughout the district to dismantle criminal networks. Consequently, authorities were able to swiftly apprehend individuals involved in serious crimes and illicit drug trade.

Meanwhile, the crackdown also led to the recovery of a massive cache of weapons and ammunition, including 56 Kalashnikovs, 15 rifles, one hand grenade, 294 pistols and 15,320 rounds of ammunition. In addition, anti-narcotics operations successfully uncovered large quantities of drugs, with police confiscating 59.165 kilograms of charas, 7.167 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) and 19.162 kilograms of heroin, delivering a decisive blow to drug trafficking networks operating in the region.

DPO Shehbaz Elahi reaffirmed that strict and indiscriminate action against criminals will continue, emphasizing that Kohat police remain fully committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens. Furthermore, he stressed that sustained operations will be carried out consistently and vigilantly to ensure lasting peace, stability and a secure environment for the public.
