KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Kohat on Saturday directed authorities to launch a strict crackdown on illegal mining, particularly unauthorized placer gold extraction, during a high-level meeting attended by senior officials from the district administration, police, and the Mines and Minerals and Forest departments.
Officials briefed the meeting on the extent of illegal mining activities and the challenges faced in curbing the practice. The deputy commissioner instructed the relevant departments to take immediate legal action against those involved and strengthen enforcement efforts to prevent unauthorized extraction of mineral resources.
Separately, the District Population Welfare Office observed World Population Day by organizing an awareness seminar at Bacha Khan library in Company Bagh, Kohat.

Addressing the seminar, speakers stressed the importance of population stabilization, maternal and child health, and the efficient management of national resources. They said rapid population growth places increasing pressure on healthcare, education, food security and housing, emphasizing that greater public awareness of responsible family planning is essential for building a healthier, more educated and sustainable society.
