Kohat administration steps up fight against child labour, human trafficking

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the District Vigilance Committee to review ongoing efforts aimed at curbing child labour and human trafficking in the district.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Lachi, the District Officer Social Welfare, Assistant Director Labour, Public Prosecutor, and officials from other relevant departments. Participants discussed the current situation regarding underage labour and examined existing mechanisms for preventing human trafficking.

Addressing the meeting, the deputy commissioner stressed the importance of coordinated action among all departments to identify those involved in exploiting children and to ensure strict legal action against offenders.

He directed authorities to strengthen enforcement measures and improve monitoring across the district.

The committee also agreed on a joint strategy to intensify inspections and enhance inter-departmental coordination to eliminate child exploitation. Muhammad Nawaz urged citizens to report incidents related to child labour or human trafficking to the DC Office Control Room at 0922-920268 and 0922-920032, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to protecting children’s rights and enforcing labour laws.
