KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) The district administration intensified its campaign against food safety violations and the sale of illegal products, seizing expired food items and non-duty-paid cigarettes during inspections carried out in different parts of Kohat on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Kohat, Muhammad Nawaz.
In this regard on Tuesday, Acting on official instructions, Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC) Gambat, Syed Mukhtiar Shah, conducted inspections of various shops and bakeries along Pindi Road to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. During the inspection, officials examined hygiene standards and checked the expiry dates of food products being offered to consumers.
A bakery was found selling expired food items, prompting immediate legal action against the owner. The administration issued strict directives to all shopkeepers and bakery owners to ensure that only fresh and quality products are sold to the public.

In a separate enforcement operation, AAC Syed Mukhtiar Shah inspected shops in the Gambat and Pindi Road markets, where authorities discovered the sale of non-duty-paid cigarettes. During the crackdown, 227 packets of illegal cigarettes were confiscated and handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings.
The district administration warned traders against dealing in untaxed and unlawful products, emphasizing that strict action would be taken against violators. Officials stated that regular inspections and enforcement drives would continue across the district to protect consumers, uphold public health standards, and ensure adherence to government regulations.
