CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) The Kisan Board has announced a press conference at the district press club in Chiniot over concerns related to a proposed dam construction project, alleging that stakeholders were not taken into confidence.

Speaking at the press club on Monday, Kisan Board leaders Zulfiqar Shah, Meher Maqsood Haral, and Syed Noor Hassan Shah said a recent meeting organized by the Environment Department at a private marriage hall regarding the dam project was held without inviting farmers or landowners, which they strongly condemned.

They claimed the issue had been unnecessarily made controversial due to what they described as a “secret” programme, adding that although the board supports dam construction, consultation with actual landowners is essential before moving forward with such projects.

The leaders further said that no relevant institutions or stakeholders were informed about the meeting and urged authorities to take notice of the matter. They demanded that the Environment Department engage directly with affected landowners to ensure transparency and fair consultation, warning that farmers would protest if their concerns were ignored.
