MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) People of Jammu and Kashmir living on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) are set to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha tomorrow (Wednesday) with traditional religious zeal and fervour, alongside the rest of Pakistan. Special prayers will be offered in mosques for the unity and solidarity of the Muslim Ummah, prosperity of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

Reports from Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir said restrictions have been imposed by Indian authorities on Eid congregations at several major mosques and open prayer grounds. Despite the reported curbs and continued security measures following India’s August 5, 2019 decision revoking the special status of the disputed Himalayan region, Kashmiri Muslims were said to be determined to observe Eid-ul-Adha with full religious spirit and renew their commitment to their ongoing struggle for self-determination.

According to reports reaching here, the largest Eid congregation in Srinagar is expected to be held at the compound of Hazratbal Shrine despite restrictions.

Eid prayers are also expected at Eidgahs and Jamia mosques in Baramulla, Kupwara, Islamabad, Pulwama, Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Kargil, and Leh. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Eid congregations will be held in all ten districts, including Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimber, Haveli, Hattian Bala, Bagh, Sudhanoti, Rawalakot, and Neelum Valley, where worshippers will offer prayers at mosques, Eidgahs, and open grounds before performing animal sacrifices in line with the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

The AJK government has announced three public holidays from May 26 to May 28 for Eid celebrations. Meanwhile, jailed Kashmiri leaders, including Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Farooq Dar, and Asiya Andrabi, in messages from prisons and house detention, reiterated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would continue their struggle despite challenges and restrictions.
