MIRPUR (AJK) , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 20th May, 2026) A British philanthropist of Kashmiri origin has pledged support for improving healthcare facilities at the state-run Kashmir Institute of Cardiology and Divisional Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Mirpur, the official sources said on Wednesday.
The commitment was announced during a meeting chaired by Mirpur Commissioner Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan at the Mirpur Divisional Teaching Hospital and Kashmir Cardiology Center.
They said British-based philanthropist Safdar Hussain would help provide modern medical equipment, infrastructure support and professional training for hospital staff to improve cardiac and general healthcare services in the region.
Speaking at the meeting, the commissioner thanked Hussain for his contributions, adding the support would enhance treatment facilities and strengthen hospital manpower.
Hussain said he aimed to help reduce the transfer of critically ill patients from Mirpur to hospitals in Islamabad and Punjab due to shortages of equipment and specialized medical services.
