Karachi police placed on high alert amid Pak-Afghan border tensions

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) Additional Inspector General Karachi Azad Khan has ordered heightened security measures across Karachi in view of the ongoing tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, a police spokesperson said on Friday.

According to the spokesperson, Karachi Police have been directed to remain fully vigilant and further strengthen security arrangements across the city while maintaining strict surveillance to detect any unusual activity.

The police chief instructed officials to enhance security at all sensitive installations, key government and semi-government offices, important buildings, airports, railway stations, bus terminals and other public places.

He also ordered increased intelligence monitoring at mosques, madaris, Imam Bargahs and other potentially sensitive locations, along with improved coordination and communication at the police station level.

District and zonal police officers were directed to intensify patrolling, picketing and snap checking, besides establishing designated points for random checks to ensure effective monitoring.

The spokesperson said Karachi Police were utilising all available resources to safeguard the lives and property of citizens and remained fully prepared to respond to any emergency situation.
