Karachi Intermediate Exams Begin Today Amid Strict Rules and Strong Security Setup

Karachi: The much-awaited annual examinations for Intermediate students under the Karachi Board of Intermediate Education (BIEK) have kicked off today with more than 126,500 candidates participating.

As of today, exams for the Higher Secondary Board Karachi have begun, as announced by the Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, Faqeer Muhammad Lakho. There are a total of 159,572 students registered for exams in this phase, encompassing the Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Home Economics, and General subject groups. The Board has set up 103 testing centers for morning testing and 42 for evening testing. Of those testing centers, 30 are associated with private colleges, and 21 have been identified as sensitive.

For the morning exam sessions, the Board has also created 27 secret surveillance teams. According to the Controller of Examinations, the Board has implemented a computerized attendance system to monitor exams. In addition, images must be taken at all stages of paper dispatching and delivery to ensure continuous monitoring and prevent exposure of examination papers.

Examination Schedule and Participation

In the morning shift, which runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, students from the Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, and Home Economics groups will sit for their exams. Over 92,000 students are expected to appear for their papers in this shift. The evening shift will take place from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, catering to the Science General group, with more than 34,500 candidates appearing for their exams.

This year, a total of 182 examination centers have been established, with 122 dedicated to the morning shift and 60 to the evening shift. Among these, 36 centers have been categorized as highly sensitive due to their vulnerability to potential security risks.
