ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) Federal Minister for Water Resources Muhammad Mueen Wattoo on Wednesday informed the National Assembly that the Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme (K-IV) is a major and important project aimed at improving water supply for Karachi residents and is expected to be completed by December 2026.

Responding to a calling attention notice regarding delays in the K-IV project despite significant expenditure, the minister said the scheme is being executed under the responsibility of WAPDA and the federal government.

He informed the House that so far, Rs 94.67 billion has been spent on the project by the federal government.

The minister said that under the scheme, water will be supplied to three key points in Karachi, which fall under the jurisdiction and responsibility of WAPDA and the federal government.

He added that around 67.9 per cent of the overall work on the project has been completed so far, expressing confidence that there would be no delay in the federally managed portion of the scheme and that it would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Muhammad Mueen Wattoo further said that if required, a meeting of all stakeholders and relevant authorities could be convened in Karachi to review progress and strengthen accountability regarding the project’s execution.
