Journalists receive fruit saplings under ‘Green Gilgit-Baltistan’ drive

The Department of Agriculture Gilgit organised a special ceremony under its “Green Gilgit-Baltistan” campaign, during which fruit saplings were distributed among journalists led by Gilgit Union of Journalists President Kiran Qasim

GIlGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) The Department of Agriculture Gilgit organised a special ceremony under its “Green Gilgit-Baltistan” campaign, during which fruit saplings were distributed among journalists led by Gilgit Union of Journalists President Kiran Qasim.

On the occasion journalists were provided with saplings of Apple, almond, lemon, walnut and apricot trees to encourage their active participation in environmental protection and to help promote the message of agricultural development across the region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Qasim and other journalists appreciated the initiative of the agriculture department, terming it a timely step towards preserving the natural beauty and ecological balance of Gilgit-Baltistan.

They emphasised that tree plantation has become a pressing need to combat environmental challenges and safeguard the region’s scenic landscape. The participants urged citizens to translate the slogan “Green Gilgit-Baltistan” into action by planting as many trees as possible according to their capacity.

The journalists also called upon the public to play their role in ensuring a greener and healthier environment for future generations through collective efforts and sustained plantation drives.
