MIRPUR (AJK) , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 20th May, 2026) The Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF) on Wednesday paid tributes to Kashmiri leaders Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq and Abdul Ghani Lone, as well as those killed in the Hawal incident, on the anniversaries of their deaths.
In a statement, JKNF spokesman, Advocate Muhammad Haseeb Wani said the two leaders had played a significant role in highlighting the political aspirations and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said Kashmiris continued to honour those who had “sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom” and reiterated the group’s commitment to seeking a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with the wishes of the people of the region.
Wani also called on the international community to help address the long-running dispute and support the right to self-determination through “peaceful and democratic means”.

He urged India and Pakistan to engage in sustained dialogue, adding that India’s rigid and confrontational policies had remained a major obstacle to peace and reconciliation in the region.
The spokesman said concerns relating to human rights and civil liberties in Indian-administered Kashmir could not be addressed separately from the broader political dispute.
He also urged New Delhi to adopt a more constructive approach and create conditions conducive to dialogue.
