Jinnah Institute of Cardiology to provide world-class facilities, be fully functional soon: Minister Salman

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology will provide world-class healthcare facilities to patients and will soon become fully functional, with new advanced services being added for heart patients.

He expressed these views while chairing the 10th meeting of the board of Governors of Jinnah Institute of Cardiology Lahore, held at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, here on Friday.

The minister said that the government is committed to providing the best possible cardiac care facilities to patients across Punjab.

The meeting reviewed the overall progress of the under-construction institute, including the ongoing recruitment process for various posts and implementation of previous decisions. The minutes of the 9th BOG meeting were also formally ratified.

Chairman Board of Governors Dr. Farqad Alamgir said the institution would be developed as a transparent and modern healthcare model and confirmed that the 256-bed hospital would be handed over to the administration soon.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical education Azmat Mahmood emphasized timely implementation of all decisions and stated that recruitment is being completed strictly on merit.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Waseem, Health Economist Dr. Muhammad Adnan Khan, Dean Jinnah Institute of Cardiology Prof. Dr. Hasnat Khan, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Waseem, Board Member Asad Ali Khan, Board Member Parveen Qadir Agha, Shahid Imtiaz from the Law Department and Additional Secretary Finance Khurram Aziz.
