KHYBER, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) Jamrud police successfully seized 60 kg of opium following a high-stakes pursuit and an exchange of fire near Shaks New Bypass Road.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmed, the incident unfolded during routine snap checking at a roadblock. When police signaled a suspicious motorist to stop, the suspects attempted to break through barricade by opening fire on personnel.
Despite immediate danger and the police vehicle sustaining partial damage from the gunfire, officers continued the chase.
They eventually managed to intercept and control the vehicle a short distance away, though the suspects managed to flee the scene.
Fortunately, no police officers were injured during the confrontation.
Upon searching the abandoned vehicle, police discovered the large cache of narcotics, which has since been moved to the police station for processing.
Preliminary investigations have identified the fugitives as Bashar and Rehan, residents of the Zakhakhel area.
Cases have been formally registered against the duo, and the DPO confirmed that special police teams have been mobilized to track down and arrest the absconding suspects.
