Jacobabad Police arrests wanted smuggler of valuable antiquities

LARKANA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jul, 2026) Jacobabad Police, with the assistance of a Federal Civil Sensitive Agency, have arrested an international and inter-provincial smuggler allegedly involved in the smuggling and theft of valuable antiquities. Illegal weapons and other significant evidence were recovered from the possession of the accused here on Tuesday.

Acting on a confidential tip-off from the Federal Civil Sensitive Agency, Jacobabad Police conducted a successful operation and arrested inter-provincial smuggler Syed Lal Shah, a resident of Jhal Magsi District, Balochistan, from Mamlank Road. During the operation, illegal weapons and important evidentiary material crucial for the investigation were recovered from the accused's possession.

During the initial investigation, the accused allegedly revealed that he was associated with a network that scouts valuable antiquities at various historical sites across Pakistan to steal and smuggle them.

Recently, he surveyed the valuable antiquities placed on display at Mohenjo-daro and planned a heist with his accomplices. For this purpose, local individuals were allegedly involved to steal the valuable antiquities and smuggle them abroad via Balochistan.

According to preliminary information, the accused is allegedly associated with an organized international smuggling network actively involved in smuggling valuable antiquities and rare historical artifacts from various regions of Pakistan. Based on the recovered evidence and the ongoing investigation, operations against the accused's other accomplices, facilitators, and the smuggling network have been accelerated.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Larkana range (DIG) Larkana, Nasir Aftab, has issued orders to issue appreciation letters for the SSP Jacobabad, In-charge CIA, Shaheen Force, and IT Branch for their successful operation.
