ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Mar, 2026) Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued a comprehensive traffic plan for Youm-e-Quds, announcing multiple diversions and alternate routes across the federal capital to facilitate citizens and maintain smooth traffic flow.
An ITP official told APP on Friday that Margalla Road would remain the only open route for entry into the Red Zone, while several roads in and around the city would witness diversions due to security and traffic management arrangements.
He said citizens traveling towards E-11 and D-12 had been advised to use service roads, while those entering Islamabad from GT Road should take the 26 Number Tarnol route to Srinagar Highway.
Similarly, traffic heading towards Sabzi Mandi via IJP Road should use Ninth Avenue, while commuters traveling from Taramri towards Islamabad should take Lehtrar Road and Express Highway.
The official said traffic from G-9 Labour Chowk towards the Markaz would be diverted through Qaddafi Chowk towards Ninth Avenue, while vehicles coming from G-10/3 Labour Chowk on Ibn-e-Sina Road would be diverted via G-10/3 Chowk to the Ninth Avenue service road.
He added that vehicles moving from Ibn-e-Sina Road towards G-10/3 Labour Chowk would be diverted through G-9 Labour Chowk and Qaddafi Chowk to the service road, while traffic approaching Tayyab Erdogan Flyover would be diverted through Bohar Mosque Chowk towards Ninth Avenue.
Similarly, traffic from Peshawar Morr via PARC Avenue would be diverted towards Ibn-e-Sina Road, while vehicles approaching Jinnah Avenue from F-10 Roundabout would be diverted through Tayyab Erdogan Flyover and Ninth Avenue towards Shaheen Chowk and Margalla Road.
The official said traffic from Naeemat Gul Chowk on Jinnah Avenue would be diverted towards Chauhar Chowk Signal, Nazimuddin Road and Faisal Avenue, while vehicles coming from Kacheri Loop towards Jinnah Avenue would be redirected through Chauhar Chowk Signal, Nazimuddin Road, Margalla Road, F-8/1 Service Road, Kohistan Road and Kaghan Road.
Likewise, traffic from Nazimuddin Corner F-7/1 on Jinnah Avenue would be diverted towards Faisal Avenue and Margalla Road, while vehicles near Saudi Pak Tower, Kulsum Plaza and China Chowk would be diverted through Nazimuddin Road, Margalla Road and Seventh Avenue.
The official said traffic approaching Aabpara Chowk towards Suhrawardy Road would be diverted to Srinagar Highway and Seventh Avenue, while another diversion at Aabpara Chowk near the Shell Pump would direct traffic towards Old MNA Hostel and Srinagar Highway.
Citizens traveling from Lal Masjid towards Aabpara have been advised to use Shaheed-e-Millat Road, while commuters may also use Seventh Avenue, Sadr Road and G-6 Service Road as alternate routes.
Additionally, traffic from Chand Tara Underpass on Srinagar Highway towards Aabpara would be diverted towards Faisal Avenue, Faizabad, Murree Road and Garden Avenue Road.
Citizens have been advised to follow the traffic plan and obtain the latest updates through Islamabad Traffic Police FM 92.4.
