ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) DIG ITP and DG Safe City Islamabad, Muhammad Haroon Joya, Thursday said that the capital’s security has been significantly strengthened with round-the-clock monitoring through Safe City cameras covering housing societies and every street corner, aimed at enhancing operational coordination and ensuring the safety of residents.
While speaking to a local media channel, Joya, stated that the city’s security infrastructure has been enhanced, with over 7,000 cameras now operational across Islamabad.
These cameras cover mosques, bazaars, shopping malls, housing societies, metro stations and bus stations, ensuring round-the-clock digital surveillance of key public areas, he added.
He explained that the extensive monitoring network is designed to create a foolproof security system, allowing authorities to quickly detect and respond to any untoward incident, adding, technology to conventional policing, the initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve coordination among law enforcement agencies.
DG Joya emphasized that the system not only helps in crime prevention but also plays a critical role in ensuring public safety and maintaining peace in high-traffic areas. With real-time monitoring, incidents can be addressed promptly, reducing response times and minimizing risks to citizens.
He stated that special security arrangements have been put in place during Ramazan, taking into account the increased movement of people in mosques, markets and shopping centers. These measures are intended to provide a safe and secure environment for residents while facilitating smooth traffic flow and orderly public gatherings during the holy month.
