Bushra Bibi, former first lady of Pakistan, gets bail in two different cases
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Feb 24th, 2026) Islamabad district and sessions court on Tuesday granted bail to former prime minister Imran Khan in six cases, while his spouse Bushra Bibi was granted bail in two cases.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka heard the bail petitions filed by the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi. The cases against Imran Khan relate to the May 9 incidents, including charges of attempted murder, vandalism, arson, and alleged forged receipts in the Toshakhana matter. Bushra Bibi is also facing a case concerning alleged fake Toshakhana receipts registered at Kohsar Police Station.
During the proceedings, state prosecutors Raja Naveed Hussain Kiyani, Mazhar Bashir and Tahir Kazim opposed the bail applications, arguing that substantial evidence existed against the accused and requesting the court to reject the pleas.
Defence counsel Barrister Salman Safdar contended that there had been inordinate delays in the trial process. He informed the court that the prosecution had sought 63 adjournments and that on 30 occasions jail authorities failed to produce Imran Khan despite court orders.
He added that five show-cause notices had been issued to the jail superintendent.
Safdar further argued that investigations in several cases remained incomplete and that no challans had been submitted. He maintained that the cases lacked merit and urged the court to grant bail on legal grounds.
During the hearing, the court asked the prosecution whether the alleged Toshakhana receipts had been recovered. The prosecution acknowledged that the receipts had not been recovered and stated that the accused had displayed them before the media. The court also questioned whether a forensic examination had been conducted; however, the prosecution’s response was found unsatisfactory.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court granted bail to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi against surety bonds of Rs50,000 each in the respective cases.
In a separate hearing at the District and Sessions Courts Islamabad, Additional District and Sessions Judge Amir Zia also approved Bushra Bibi’s bail in another case related to the November 26 PTI protest, against a surety bond of Rs50,000.
