Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrives on a state visit to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, on Tuesday arrived in Pakistan on a state visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari warmly received the Iranian President at Nur Khan Airbase. As part of the ceremonial welcome, Dr. Pezeshkian was accorded a 21-gun salute, while fighter jets conducted a flypast in his honour.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Pezeshkian was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Speaker of the Parliament of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and other high-ranking officials. During the visit, President Pezeshkian will meet President Asif Ali Zardari and hold talks with the prime minister.

This is Dr Pezeshkian’s second visit to Pakistan in his capacity as President of Iran.
