Diplomatic sources say discussions will cover bilateral relations, regional security dynamics and ongoing efforts related to de-escalation in Middle East
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 24th, 2026) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on Friday for a high-level visit aimed at discussing regional developments and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
During the visit, the Iranian foreign minister is expected to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s senior military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei is also accompanying the delegation.
According to diplomatic sources, the discussions will cover bilateral relations, regional security dynamics, and ongoing efforts related to de-escalation in the middle East.
Pakistan’s diplomatic facilitation role in regional dialogue is also likely to be part of the agenda.
The Iranian foreign minister is undertaking a wider regional tour that also includes visits to Muscat and Moscow, where he will hold consultations with senior officials on evolving geopolitical developments.
Earlier, Iranian state media confirmed the regional visit, stating that the tour is focused on bilateral consultations and assessment of the latest regional situation.
It added that the discussions would include ongoing tensions and diplomatic efforts involving key international stakeholders.
Officials said the Islamabad visit reflects continued engagement between Pakistan and Iran on matters of mutual interest and regional stability, with both sides expected to reaffirm their commitment to dialogue and cooperation.
