TEHRAN: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 17th, 2026) Iran Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei turned down the proposals to de-escalate tensions with the United States of America as the war entered the third week, the international media reported on Tuesday

The proposals were pushed by two intermediary countries during a high-level meeting of foreign policy.

However, the supreme leader rejected the proposals in the given situation.

The sources said that Khamenei told the participants that it was “not the time for peace” and emphasised confronting the United States and Israel.

He also called for Washington to compensate Iran for damages it has suffered.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz claimed that senior Iranian figure Ali Larijani was killed in recent Israeli strikes.

Katz said Larijani was targeted during overnight attacks, though there has been no immediate confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding the claim.
