IPP finalises strategy for AJK, GB local elections, reiterates solidarity with security forces

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2026) President of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) Abdul Aleem Khan on Saturday chaired a meeting of the party's Central Executive Committee (CEC), which finalized the party's electoral strategy for the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) general elections and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) local government elections.

The meeting thoroughly reviewed the party's organizational structure and mapped out a comprehensive strategy for the upcoming local general elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Local Government Elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Addressing the committee, IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan paid a glowing tribute to the party leaders and workers who spearheaded the recent campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan. "IPP has now become a household name across Gilgit-Baltistan," Abdul Aleem Khan remarked, announcing that the party will actively participate with full force in the G-B local body elections scheduled for September 2026. He directed that the party structure must be organized at the grassroots level to ensure a historic victory.

The IPP president said the party had already awarded tickets for 38 of the 45 Constituencies in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and announced the formation of election committees to coordinate the party's campaign.

"Those who dedicate their hard work to the party will be rewarded with due respect and elevated stature within the ranks," the IPP President stated. He also issued directives to mobilize the party's overseas chapters and immediately functionalize regional party offices across North Punjab, South Punjab, Gilgit, and Azad Kashmir.

To modernize the party infrastructure, he ordered that the digital membership system in AJK be simplified and membership cards be issued to all registered members.

The CEC and reaffirmed the party's full support for the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in their ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorism.

During the meeting, the CEC unanimously adopted a resolution strongly condemning the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan. The resolution reiterated that the IPP stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies in their fight against terrorism.

Special prayers (Fateha) were also offered for the security personnel and police officials who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty in Balochistan.

"I envision IPP as a party that belongs to everyone. To achieve this, we must step forward and take absolute ownership of our collective political mission," he concluded.

The high-level meeting was attended by senior party leadership, including Sardar Tanvir Ilyas, Aun Chaudhry, Mian Khalid Mahmood, Rana Nazir Ahmed Khan, Gul Asghar Khan Bhagoor, Shoaib Siddiqui, Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Sara Ahmad, Sumera Liaqat, Yawar Kamal, Khawar Maneka, Tehseen Gardezi, Makhdum Tariq Mehmood, Haroon Gill, Malik Zaman, and Wajid Gujjar.
