KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th May, 2026) BSN Program Director at the Dow Institute of Nursing and Midwifery, Rukhsana Muhammad Haroon paid tribute to nurses and nursing students for their dedication and service to humanity on the occasion of International Nurses and Midwives Day 2026, observed on May 12.
She emphasized that nurses should remain sincere, committed, and responsible towards their profession. “While caring for patients, nurses must perform their duties with honesty and compassion, treating every procedure as if they themselves were going through the same experience,” she stated.
Rukhsana also highlighted the contributions of Florence Nightingale the founder of modern nursing, noting that this year marks her 206th birth anniversary, in whose honor International Nurses Day is celebrated every year.

She further praised the efforts of Dean and Principal Professor Dr. Tanseer Ahmed for his dedication and professional leadership, under which the institution continues to achieve excellence in education.
She also acknowledged the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazli Hussain and appreciated the active role of the university management in advancing medical education and research.
