Inte'l Islamophobia Day reminds need for awareness, unity; say scholars

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2026) Religious scholars on Sunday stressed the need for greater awareness, dialogue and collective efforts to counter rising Islamophobia and promote harmony among different religions as the world observes the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.

Talking to APP, religious scholar Maulana Syed Muhammad Saleh Shah said the day reminds the global community of the importance of addressing prejudice and misconceptions about Islam. He said islam is a religion that teaches peace, compassion and respect for humanity, and its true message must be conveyed through education and dialogue.

Another prominent scholar, Allama Kabeer Haruni, said that Islamophobia has become a serious global concern affecting Muslim communities in different societies. He emphasized that media, educational institutions and civil society should play a responsible role in promoting tolerance and countering misinformation about Islam.

Meanwhile, religious leader Sahibzada Hassan Raza Qadri said Islam strongly advocates coexistence and respect for people of all faiths.

He stressed that scholars and community leaders should work together to promote interfaith harmony and build understanding among different cultures.

They urged the Islamic scholars to raise awareness and strengthen global efforts to eliminate hatred and discrimination.

They further highlighted that teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) pave the way to wards lasting peace and mutual respect.

"We have to teach the world that finality of prophecy rests with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Quran is the final book from Allah Almighty and the Islam is the global religion", said Sahibzada Hassan Raza Qadri.

The scholars noted that it is the duty of the religious scholars from across various sects to depict true picture of Islam through conduct and behaviours.

"We have to guide our next generation about the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), it is as important for them as the oxygen is for life", said Kabeer Haruni. APP/395
