Institutional collaboration key to Islamabad's progress: ICCI

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jul, 2026) Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and the CDA Labour Union on Thursday agreed to strengthen institutional cooperation for addressing civic and business-related challenges, reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting a cleaner, more efficient and investment-friendly Federal capital.

The understanding was reached during the visit of a CDA Labour Union delegation led by its President Aurangzeb Khan and Secretary General Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin to the Chamber here on Thursday.

Welcoming the delegation, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood said that the prosperity of Islamabad is intrinsically linked with the efficiency of its civic institutions and the vibrancy of its business community.

He observed that sustainable economic growth requires quality municipal services, modern infrastructure and a business-friendly environment capable of attracting investment and generating employment.

He highly appreciated the dedication and hard work of CDA employees in maintaining and improving the capital's civic infrastructure and assured the delegation that ICCI would continue to work closely with all public institutions for the collective development of Islamabad.

Secretary General of the CDA Labour Union Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin thanked the ICCI leadership for the warm welcome and appreciated the Chamber's consistent efforts in safeguarding the interests of the business community.

He said that the welfare of workers and the progress of trade and industry go hand in hand, adding that effective coordination between the CDA Labour Union and ICCI would help resolve civic issues more efficiently and contribute to making Islamabad a model capital.

Reaffirming that the CDA Labour Union firmly believes in democratic, constitutional and peaceful struggle, he added that CDA employees played a pivotal role in building , maintaining and beautifying the federal capital , therefore they deserve dignity, improved working conditions and adequate welfare facilities and that all the issues relating to them should be resolved through constructive dialogue rather than unilaterally.

Chairman ICCI Founder Group Sheikh Tariq Sadiq and former President Khalid Javaid said that regular engagement between civic institutions and the private sector is essential for ensuring uninterrupted municipal services and facilitating commercial activities.

Assad Mehmood General Secretary Pakistan Workers Federation, Mohammad Rizwan additional Deputy General Secretary also shared their views on the occasion.

ICCI executive member Mirza Mohammad Ali in his vote of thanks said that ICCI firmly believes in collective action to address civic challenges and enhance the ease of doing business.
