India always playing with IWT to threaten Pakistan: Qamar Ahmed

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) Senior Journalist and renowned cricket commentator Qamar Ahmed, while taking to APP on Sunday, said Indus Water Treaty IWT is a matter of life & death for Pakistan, its people, its agriculture & for its survival of economy. The five-decade old treaty is always threatened & even on occasions suspended unilaterally to warn Pakistan after every skirmish on their borders.

It came to its height in April 2025 when India accused Pakistan of insurgency in Kashmir & killing of 25 people.

He added that The Indus flows from its source from Mount Kailash in Tibet & flows down ways feeding 5 rivers that flows towards Pakistan. India has been playing with this Treaty to threaten Pakistan. After the 4 days war last May Trumps call to ceasefire the Treaty once again in danger but Pakistan government is well aware of Indian designs to contest it tooth & nail, “he said.
