Imported wheelchairs distributed among deserving people in Multan

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) A ceremony for the distribution of high-quality imported wheelchairs among persons with disabilities was organized in Multan under the aegis of the Main Stream Association Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with Disable Welfare Association Karachi and Bargad Organization for Youth Development.

The event was held with the support of Hands Welfare Foundation, CBID Network, and under the supervision of the Social Welfare Department and Bait-ul-Mal. During the ceremony, high-quality wheelchairs imported from the United States were distributed among persons with disabilities belonging to different areas of South Punjab.

Divisional Director Social Welfare Um-e-Farwa Hamdani attended the ceremony as chief guest and also represented the Commissioner Multan on the occasion.

Addressing the participants, she appreciated the efforts of the Main Stream Association for promoting the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities and termed the initiative a commendable step towards social inclusion.

She congratulated the organizers for arranging the distribution of modern wheelchairs and thanked the Disable Welfare Association Karachi for facilitating the provision of imported wheelchairs for persons with disabilities in South Punjab.

President of the Main Stream Association, Nadir Khan, said that the organization aimed to empower persons living with severe disabilities by helping them learn how to lead an independent and dignified life despite physical challenges.

He appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to ensure financial support for organizations working for persons with disabilities so that welfare initiatives could be expanded further.

Among others who addressed the ceremony included Saleh Pasha, Javed Iqbal, Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Asim Zafar, Agha Hasnain Raza, Abdul Mohsin Shaheen, Zain Baloch, Nasir Mehmood Sheikh, Abdul Aziz Khan and Shakir Hussain Shakir.

Speakers highlighted the importance of ensuring equal opportunities and a productive role for persons with disabilities in society.

The event was hosted by Rizwana Malik and attended by representatives of civil society, government officials, families of persons with disabilities and a large number of special persons.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, shields and certificates were distributed among guests and participants in recognition of their services and contributions.
