Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jul, 2026) The district administration launched a major operation against water theft from the CRBC Main Canal, removing more than 15 illegal water connections and arresting several suspects during a joint crackdown on Thursday.
The operation was carried out by Assistant Commissioner Dera, Dr. Hameed Siddiq, on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Hikmat Ullah. Officials of the Irrigation Department, WAPDA's CRBC staff and personnel from Police Station Shorkot also participated in the operation.
During the crackdown, the authorities dismantled over 15 illegal water outlets installed on the canal and arrested several individuals allegedly involved in water theft.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The suspects were shifted to Police Station Shorkot for legal proceedings.
The teams also seized equipment allegedly used for illegal water extraction, including petrol pumps, submersible pumps, electric motors and pipelines. Legal action has been initiated against the concerned landowners under the relevant laws.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Hameed Siddiq said that water theft from the CRBC Main Canal would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said operations against those involved would continue without discrimination until every illegal connection was removed, ensuring the fair distribution of canal water and protection of farmers' rights.
