MURREE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) The district administration on Thursday demolished illegal constructions at Misiari during an operation against unauthorised structures and encroachments in Murree.

The action was carried out on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, a ditrict administration spokesman said.

Heavy machinery was used during the operation, while officers of the district administration and relevant departments remained present on the site.

According to the administration, the move was aimed at preserving Murree’s natural beauty, maintaining environmental balance and ensuring urban discipline.

The spokesman said certain elements were not only occupying state land through illegal constructions and encroachments but were also damaging the hill station’s historic and tourist character, which would not be tolerated.

He made it clear that strict action would continue against those involved in unauthorised buildings, encroachments and unapproved housing schemes, without discrimination.

Murree, being a major tourist destination attracting thousands of visitors annually, requires strict compliance with building laws and regulations, officials said, adding that illegal constructions aggravate traffic and infrastructure issues and heighten the risk of landslides and environmental hazards.

The residents were warned to obtain prior approval from the relevant authorities before undertaking any construction, failing which action would be taken in accordance with the law.

The spokesman reaffirmed his resolve to continue the operation without interruption to eliminate encroachments and uphold the writ of the state, stating that no pressure or recommendation would be entertained in this regard.
