IHC serves notices to NCCIA in case against conviction of Imaan Mazari

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday issued a notice to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on the plea seeking suspension of the sentence of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in the controversial tweets case.

However, no date has been set for the next hearing, while issuing a notice on the appeal against the sentence and directing the Registrar's Office to prepare a case paper book. Justice Muhammad Asif issued a two-page written order of the previous hearing. The court also issued notices on the appeals against the sentence of Advocate Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha and the applications for suspension of the sentence.

According to the written order, the decision to pronounce the sentence on January 24 has been challenged by Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha.

According to the petitioner's lawyer, the decision is not legally valid and should be declared null and void. The Islamabad High Court has directed that the Registrar's Office prepare a paper book of the case, and the case should be scheduled for hearing after the paper book of the case is prepared.

The petitioner's lawyer had requested that the applications for release on bail be scheduled early by suspending the sentence. Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha have filed an appeal against the trial court's decision.
