IHC seeks comments regarding renewal of passports

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday served notices to respondents including Directorate General of Immigration and Passport (I&P) in two cases regarding the non-renewal of passports after their expiry and sought responses.

Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard two cases against non-renewal of passports after their expiry. The court summoned the Assistant Attorney General to the rostrum and remarked that the court has already made orders in such cases, why are these cases are still coming, if the institutions work, then why are people coming to the courts, we are sitting here all day to renew passports?

The court adjourned the hearing seeking a response from the immigration and passport officials.
